14,000 steps. That's how many my Jawbone told me I took yesterday.

I traveled to Wilkesboro on Saturday for work to listen to (and help livestream) some good ol' mountain music and chat with a few of the bands. I've never had the pleasure of attending MerleFest before, so it was interesting to tackle it in one day with a full media schedule. We listened to and talked with Scythian and New Country Rehab, sat in at a press conference with The Avett Brothers and stayed a little too late during their set before driving the hour and a half home.

I recently agreed to start a book club with a couple of girls at work and some friends. Our first assignment was to read The Girl on the Train. I bought it during the first weekend it was truly warm in Charlotte and spent the next two afternoons wrapped up in a love knot (I can't say it's a triangle) murder mystery. I couldn't put it down! It was the first book I have finished in months and has me hungry for more. I tend to do that - binge read for a while and then not finish a book for months - but I'm making it a goal during this year to read at least one book a month. Book club will keep me on track, and hopefully I can fit a few more in between!

It's that time of year anyways; there's nothing better than a good book by the pool or on the beach, so here are the titles on deck.

5 Books On My Radar

The travel bug is real. With every travel deal email (thanks, internet), those bold, red numbers seem to get more and more enticing. Planning a honeymoon to Barcelona is helping subdue the urges, but it's still six months away. In the meantime, other locations have been bubbling to the surface and vying for my attention; so like any good list-maker, I wrote them down.

Some of you may have noticed that the links in my social media profiles have changed. (Gasp!) You may have also noticed that this blog title isn't exactly my name yet. (Double gasp!) Don't worry, it's still me. It's just time to start again - and jump the gun just a bit.
